Metro’s Wednesday PM Commute: Delays are subsiding; buses are still rerouted off 1 Av S; concert at Safeco tonight; Seahawks tomorrow

Weeknight concerts & a Seahawks pre-season game
Commuters heading home, and concert goers and football fans heading to this week’s stadium events, are advised to expect possibly significant general traffic and transit service delays before the Pearl Jam concerts at Safeco Field on Wednesday and Friday evenings, August 8 and 10, and Seahawks Thursday night pre-season game at CenturyLink Field on Thursday evening, August 9.

Routes 21, 116, 118 & 119 are currently rerouted
Route 21 is rerouted in both directions off of 1 St Av S between S Holgate St and Edgar Martinez Dr S.

Heading north, use regular stops south of S Holgate St or north of S Royal Brougham Way, or along the reroute on northbound 4 Av S just north of S Holgate St.

Heading south, use the stop along the reroute on southbound 4 Av S just south of Edgar Martinez Dr S or regular stops south of S Holgate St.

Routes 116, 118 & 119 are rerouted southbound off of 1st St Av S between Edgar Martinez Dr S and S Holgate St.

Hot weather tips
Metro Transit is advising all transit riders in its service area to plan ahead for traveling during the very hot weather that is expected during the next few days.

While about 70 percent of Metro’s bus fleet has air conditioning, crowded buses could still feel very warm, and getting to and from bus stops in the heat may be a consideration for some people.

  • Ride the bus during off-peak hours, when buses are less crowded.
  • If possible, take morning or evening bus trips to avoid the midday sun.
  • Carry water with you on the bus to keep you hydrated.
  • Wear lightweight, comfortable clothing.
  • If you are traveling with children or seniors, be aware that they are more prone to heat-related illness.

Metro does everything it can to make riding transit as comfortable as possible, however, transit service can be affected by traffic, weather and other conditions over which we have no control. Your patience during delays and service disruptions is appreciated.
