Metro’s Tuesday afternoon commute wrap-up, plus the Alaskan Way Viaduct is closed

Metro’s Tuesday evening commute is winding down.   Traffic into downtown Seattle can be heavy at times along 1 Av S and 4 Av S due to the Alaskan Way Viaduct closure.

Reroutes for the 11 buses which use the viaduct are in effect.  If your bus normally uses the viaduct, remember to board your bus on southbound 3rd Av and not on Columbia St.

Even if your bus doesn’t use the viaduct, you may experience delays in service due to heavy vehicle traffic on Aurora Av, I-5 and local roads.  Traffic congestion on the north end of the viaduct is likely to cause specific delays for Metro bus routes 5, 15, 16, 18, 26 Express, 28 Express and 358.

More information about the closure and the affect on bus travel is available at Metro Online.

Update on traffic impacts due to the Alaskan Way Viaduct closure

As of 8:00 AM, traffic across the West Seattle Bridge is beginning to subside.  SODO district traffic continues to be heavier than normal.  Your bus may take a different route from yesterday, but will not miss any of the planned stops.  Thank you for your continued patience.
