Metro’s Friday PM commute ends; Routes 16 & 66 still rerouted off Alaskan Wy; weekend Mercer St ramp closures; Link track maintenance and events

At 7:00 PM Metro’s Friday evening commute is winding down.

Due to heavy traffic conditions along and around the Seattle waterfront, Routes 16 and 66 continue to be rerouted off of Alaskan Way between Madison St and Yesler Way.  A temporary stop southbound on Western Av just north of Marion St has been set up to accommodate customers who normally board at the Ferry Terminal.

Route 99 is operating regular route and encountering long delays.

  • Friday, July 22, 5:00 AM through Saturday, July 23, 8:00 PM
  • Routes 186 & 912 are rerouted due to this event.

Broad St closed between Westlake Av N and 9th Av N

Mercer Corridor Project

Weekend Central Link light rail maintenance

  • Central Link light rail will operate  every 15 minutes at all times on
    Saturday & Sunday, July 23-24 due to track maintenance.
  • Additionally, on Sunday, July 24 from 6–10 a.m. Link will not travel
    north of SODO Station.
    • Ride the free Metro Route 97 or any other bus northbound on the SODO busway to get to points in downtown Seattle during this time.
    • Ride Route 97 southbound from all tunnel stops to get to Link service at SODO Station during this time.
  • All Metro and Sound Transit buses will run as scheduled in the tunnel.

  • Route 132 will be rerouted.

Fauntleroy Ferry – Possible Traffic Impacts
Expect possible ferry delays and traffic congestion at the Fauntleroy terminal
starting Sunday, July 17.  

  • Use extra caution at the Fauntleroy terminal and be prepared for possible delays.  
  • Some sailings may depart without a full load during peak times due to traffic.  
  • WSF is monitoring the traffic situation .

Mount Baker Station southbound platform elevators are out of service
The elevators to and from the Mount Baker Station southbound platform are out of service until further notice. 

Until repairs are made, southbound passengers who require the use of the elevator and want to board at Mount Baker should ride instead north toBeacon Hill and transfer to a southbound train. 

Passengers who want to exit at Mount Baker should ride to Columbia City and transfer to a northbound train.

Traffic Advisory – Heavy traffic conditions along and around the Seattle Waterfront

Friday traffic plus the landing of a cruise ship at Pier 70 is causing heavy traffic conditions along and around the Seattle Waterfront. Due to this, Routes 16 and 66 to and from the Ferry terminal as well as Route 99 along Alaskan Way are encountering service delays . SPD is on the way to help facilitate traffic in the area.

Air Cargo Road is now open at S 170th St; Routes 180 and ST 560 resume normal service.

Update: Air Cargo Rd is now open at S 170th St. Routes 180 and ST 560 has resumed normal service on Air Cargo Rd between S 160th St and S 170th St.

Metro’s Friday PM commute; Air Cargo Rd is closed at S 170th; weekend Mercer St ramp closures; Link track maintenance and events

At 3:00 PM Metro’s Friday afternoon commute has begun with the closure of Air Cargo Road at S 170th St, expected to last 3-4 hours. Route 180 is currently rerouted in both directions off of Air Cargo Rd between S 170th St and S 160th St. Use the stop on International Blvd S just north of S 176th St, or the stops on Air Cargo Rd north of S 160th St.  ST Route 560 is also on a minor reroute  with no stops missed.
