Metro’s Thursday PM Commute Wrap-Up; Plus Upcoming Events That May Impact Transit Service

Metro’s Thursday afternoon commute is winding down. We have seen brief  delays in service due to traffic, with no general delays or disruption in service to report. 

Please note upcoming events over the next few days that may impact your travels in our service area.

  • Lane closures on SR-99 in both direction between the West Seattle Bridge and SODO

The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) has reduced lanes on the SR 99 on the Alaskan Way Viaduct in both directions between the West Seattle Bridge and SODO.

  • University District Street Fair

Saturday, May 21st Starting at Midnight to Monday, May 23rd at 5:00 AM. Routes 30,71, 72, 73 & 83 will be affected by this event.

  • ALKI Summer Festival

Sunday, May 22nd – 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM

Routes 56 & 775 will be affected by this event.

  • Mutual Of Enumclaw Stage Race

Saturday, May 21 – 6:30 AM to 8:30 PM

Route 186 will be affected by this event.

UPDATE – Trolley Buses along Downtown 3rd Ave Are Back to Normal Operation.

The earlier power outage along 3rd Av has been resolved. Trolley buses are operating under their own power. Any service delays should begin to subside shortly.  Thank you for your patience.

Metro’s Thursday PM Commute is Underway; Plus Upcoming Events That May Impact Transit Service

Metro’s Thursday afternoon commute is underway. We are experiencing a power outage for the trolley buses along 3rd Ave. Buses are being pushed by special trucks to where the overhead wires are energized. Service is running but expect possible delays.

The Mariners game has just concluded. Expect possible delays near Safeco Field and adjacent streets.

Lane closures on SR-99 in both direction between the West Seattle Bridge and SODO

The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) has reduced lanes on the SR 99 on the Alaskan Way Viaduct in both directions between the West Seattle Bridge and SODO. Mercer St Corridor Project: Closure of I-5 on and off ramps at Mercer Street Begins Late Friday, May 20

Beginning Friday, May 20, 11:00 PM through Monday, May 23, 5:00 AM, Mercer St will be closed to through traffic between Westlake Av N and Fairview Av N.

Routes 30, 71, 72, 73 & 83 will be affected by this closure.

We will will be here until 7:00 PM, to help keep an Eye on Your Metro Commute.

Metro’s Thursday AM Commute Wrap-up; Mariners Game Today At 12:40 PM Plus Upcoming Events That May Impact Transit Service

At 9:00 AM, Metro’s Thursday morning commute is winding  down smoothly with no significant delays or disruptions in transit service to report.

Mariners game today, Thursday, May 19, 12:40 PM at Safeco Field

Traffic in the SODO, Stadium, Pioneer Square & downtown Seattle areas may be congested on game days.

King County Metro Transit and its regional transit partners can get Ms fans to and from points near Safeco Field via transit-priority routes that are not shared by general purpose traffic – the Downtown Seattle Transit Tunnel (DSTT), the SODO Busway and the Link light rail corridor – making transit a great option for getting to and from games.

Fans should use regularly published schedules and expect possible delays when traffic is heavy.

Regular fares apply.

There will be no 1 Av S post-game reroutes for todays game, Thursday, May 19, 12:40 PM. Buses will operate via regular routes and stops with possible delays during post-game traffic.

 Overnight westbound I-90 / & 142nd Pl SE Express Ramp closure this week

Overnight Monday, May 16 through Thursday, May 19, from 9:00 PM-5:00 AM, each night, the westbound I-90 Express Ramp at 142 Pl SE will be closed for construction.

During this closure, Route ST 554 will instead travel via the Eastgate P&R, where it will serve Bay 1 before continuing to westbound I-90.
