Transit Alert – Service is being delayed by heavy traffic congestion on northbound I-5 to Seattle

Expect possible significant delays in transit service travelling on northbound I-5 to Seattle.  Heavy traffic congestion reported from about S 320th St to SR-516, then again from about Boeing Field.

Metro’s Friday PM Commute continues with traffic on southbound I-5 from Northgate to Seattle, full closure of SR-520 this weekend & other events

Metro’s Friday evening commute continues with traffic on southbound I-5 from Northgate to Seattle. Mariners game and an event at Key Arena this evening. Expect heavy traffic in downtown Seattle area and transit service delays.

Please note the information below about service advisories and alerts due to known events in Metro’s service area.

Events -

Mariners homestand

  • Tuesday, 8/5 through Wednesday, 8/13;
  • Most weekday evening games start at 7:10 PM;
  • There is no premium or special transit service to or from games;
  • Ride regularly scheduled transit service to & from games;
  • Lots of transit service goes near Safeco Field;
  • SODO-area transit service operates via regular routes & stops and there are no post-game reroutes;
  • Expect traffic & possible transit delays before & after games on routes that serve SODO, Pioneer Square & the DSTT.

Auburn Good Ol’ Days

Concert at Key Arena

  • Friday, 8/8 at 7:30 PM;
  • Although no transit service is rerouted due to this event, expect
    traffic & transit schedule delays in the Queen Anne, Seattle Center and downtown Seattle areas;
  • Ride transit to Key Arena events.
  • Regular fares apply.

Downtown Seattle Transit Tunnel (DSTT) Temporary Closure

  • Sat, 8/9 5:00-11:00 AM
  • All DSTT stations, the northbound bus stops on the SODO Busway at S Holgate St & S Royal Brougham Way and Stadium Link station will be closed;
  • All northbound SODO Busway service will be revised to operate via  S Holgate St to 4th Av S.
  • All southbound SODO Busway service will operate via normal routes and stops;
  • Northbound Metro bus routes 41, 71, 72, 73 & eastbound Route 255 will travel through downtown Seattle via 4th Av and Olive Way; heading south they will travel via 2nd Av;
  • Southbound Metro routes 101, 106 and 150 and Sound Transit Route 550 to Bellevue, will travel through downtown Seattle via Stewart St and 2nd Av; heading north they will travel via 4th Av.
  • Central Link light rail service will operate in both directions between Sea Tac Airport and SODO Station at S Lander Street.
  • The Metro-operated Link Shuttle Route 97 will be in service between SODO Station and 3rd Av & Pine St in downtown Seattle.

  • Buses are traveling via a one-way counter-clockwise loop along NW 100th St, NW Neptune Pl and 24th Av NW.

Transit Alert Update – Service delays expected to subside on buses operating via the Lake Meridian Park & Ride

Service delays are expected to subside on Routes 157, 158, 159, 161, 168 & 914 DART. The earlier blockage on southbound 132nd Av SE near the Lake Meridian Park & Ride has been cleared.

Transit Alert Update – Route 168 is currently rerouted due a blockage on southbound 132nd Av SE near the Lake Meridian Park & Ride

Route 168 is currently rerouted off southbound 132nd Av SE between SE 256th St and SE 268th St.

Use bus stops on SE 256th St west of 140th Av SE or at the Lake Meridian Park & Ride.

Routes 157, 158, 159, 161 and DART 914 are currently delayed due to this blockage with no service missed.
