Metro’s Friday PM commute is winding down with no significant delays
or disruptions in transit service to report.

Please note the information below about possible traffic
impacts in Metro’s service area.
While all traffic could experience delays in event areas, such as Seattle Center and SODO, transit is an excellent option for getting to and from activities. Transit service is often able to take advantage of lanes or travel corridors that are restricted to general purpose traffic. There is lots of transit service to and from these upcoming events.
1st Av S ramp to the West Seattle Bridge reopens
- Friday, 8/31 at 7:00 AM
- Routes 21, 22, 35, 37, 56, 57, 85 Night Owl, 116, 118 & 119 are rerouted;
- Buses will be using the new 1 st Av S ramp.
Mariners home stand starts tonight at 7:10 PM
- Friday, 8/31 through Monday, 9/9.
- Most weekday evenings games start at 7:10 PM.
- Day games on Monday, 9/3 at 1:10 PM & Wednesday, 9/5 at 12:40 PM.
- There is no premium or special Transit service to or from games.
- Ride regularly scheduled Transit service to & from games.
- Lots of Transit service goes near Safeco Field.
- SODO-area Transit service will operate via regular routes & stops
and there are no post-game reroutes. - There is no longer any transit service on 1st Av S north of S Lander St.
- Expect traffic & possible Transit delays before and after games on routes
that serve SODO, Pioneer Square & the DSTT.
Bumbershoot at Seattle Center
- Saturday, 9/1 through Monday, 9/3
- On all days of this event, regular Transit service to the Seattle Center
is provided by Metro routes 1, 2, 3, 4, 8, 13, 15, 16, 18, 24, 30 & 33.
Routes 5, 17, 26, 28 & 358 go to within walking distance. Regular fares apply. - Metro will provide shuttle service Saturday-Monday from the Northgate TC. At the Seattle Center, shuttles arrive and depart from the stop eastbound on Mercer St at 3rd Av N.
- The cost to ride the shuttle is $2.50 cash-only per person each way. Children aged 5 & under ride free. No passes, transfers or ORCA cards
are accepted.
Extended Sailings for this weekend’s Husky game
The King County Water Taxi’s West Seattle route will be running its extended
sailing schedules for Saturday’s Husky game on September 1. In addition to
the final scheduled departure at downtown Seattle’s Pier 50 at 10:30 PM, we
will run an additional departure at 11:00 PM. The final two departures from Seacrest Park will be at 10:45 PM and 11:10 PM.
Metro Transit also is operating a shuttle service for four area park-and-ride lots
for Husky games at CenturyLink Field.
Husky home game at CenturyLink Field
- Saturday, 9/1 at 7:30 PM
- There is no free service to Husky games at CenturyLink Field.
- UW Husky P&R Shuttles requiring a $3.00 one way or $6.00 roundtrip cash fare are available at Northgate Transit Center, South Kirkland P&R,
Eastgate P&R and Federal Way P&R. - There is no special service from any other P&R lots.
- Use Metro’s online Trip Planner for information about getting to events
& locations. - Traffic in the SODO, Stadium, Pioneer Square & downtown Seattle areas may be congested on game days.
- Ride transit to the game.
Labor Day observed Monday, September 3
In observance of Labor Day, King County Metro Transit will operate a Sunday schedule on Monday, September 3.
- Metro offices – including the Customer Information, pass sales and lost and found offices – will be closed on Monday. Visit Metro’s online Regional Trip Planner to plan your transit trip.
- If your bus does not normally operate on Sunday, it will not operate on Monday.
- The West Seattle Water Taxi route will be operating a Sunday schedule
on Labor Day, as will DART shuttle routes 773 and 775. - The Vashon Island Water Taxi route will not be in service on Monday.
- On Labor Day, both the South Lake Union Streetcar and Link light rail
will operate a Sunday schedule.
Long-Term Construction Reroutes – Fairview Av N due to new
phase in the Mercer Corridor Project
- Starting Friday, 8/24 at 11 PM & expected to last about 6 months;
- Routes 70, 71, 72, 73, 83 Night Owl & 309 are rerouted;
- Buses will travel via Eastlake Av E instead of Fairview Av N.
Long-term Construction – Eastbound 1st Av S ramp closed from the Spokane Street Viaduct
- Monday, 8/20 through Sunday, 9/30 – at all times;
- Routes 21, 22, 35, 37, 56, 57, 85 Night Owl, 116, 118 & 119 are rerouted;
- Buses using the 4th Av S off ramp instead.
Construction – Eastbound N 85th St is closed between Greenwood & Wallingford Avs N
- Extended through Friday, 10/26 – at all times.
- Routes 48, 355 & School Custom Bus route 994 are rerouted.
