King County Metro Transit announced today it will replace its aging trolley fleet with new all-electric New Flyer coaches that will take about one-third less energy to power. Metro is second only to San Francisco in having the largest electric trolley fleet in the nation.
Regional traffic congestion and the recent closures of a damaged bridge on Interstate 5 and a vulnerable century-old bridge in Kent continue to call attention to the need to maintain, preserve and improve our vital transportation network that our economy depends on. But where can we turn for the funding needed to pay for these investments?
Starting Saturday, June 8, King County Metro Transit will revise bus service, routing and schedules to continue to operate more efficiently, improve travel times and better match bus service to ridership.
