Metro’s Tuesday PM commute wrap-up; plus upcoming events that may impact service

At 7:00 PM – Metro’s Tuesday evening commute is finally winding down after an eventful afternoon. Currently, there are no significant delays or disruptions in service to report.

Please note the information below about upcoming events in Metro’s service area.

Shoreline Jazz Festival

Tuesday, August 16th, from 6:00 PM -11:00 PM. 

Sounders FC match tonight, 7:00 PM at Qwest Field
Expect possible transit service schedule delays during stadium events and at other times when traffic is heavy in the SODO or stadium area.

  • To help reduce traffic congestion, ride transit to stadium events whenever possible. Nearly all transit service that serves downtown Seattle goes to within walking distance of the stadiums.

  • While no reroutes are expected for this event, expect possible transit service schedule delays during stadium events and at other times when traffic is heavy in the SODO, Stadium, Pioneer Square & downtown Seattle areas.

Evergreen Point Bridge Park-and-Ride on State Route 520 was moved to a new temporary location.

As of Monday, July 25, Metro Transit’s Evergreen Point Bridge
Park-and-Ride on State Route 520 was moved to a new temporary
location and the number of parking spaces has been  reduced.

This location will be used for about two years to allow for construction
of the Washington State Department of Transportation’s (WSDOT) Eastside
Transit and HOV Project.

The new temporary lot is located just north of the original P&R on the north 
side of SR-520 at Evergreen Point Road and NE 32nd Street in Medina.

Capacity at the temporary lot is reduced from 50 to 19 stalls due to limited
space and to avoid cutting down six mature trees. When the new park-and-ride
opens in 2013, the 50 stall capacity will be restored.

Mount Baker Station elevators to and from the southbound platform are out of service.

The elevators to and from the Mount Baker Station southbound platform are out of service until further notice.

Until repairs are made, southbound passengers who require the use of the elevator and want to board at Mount Baker should ride instead north to Beacon Hill and transfer to a southbound train.

Passengers who want to exit at Mount Baker should ride to Columbia City and transfer to a northbound train.

UPDATE: Westbound Pine St at 3rd Av has re-opened; Buses return to regular route.

At 6:49 PM – The blocking incident at 3rd Av & Pine St in downtown Seattle has been cleared. Buses have returned to regular route.

UPDATE: Southbound 3rd Av in downtown Seattle has re-opened; Westbound Pine St continues to be blocked.

At 6:45 PM – Southbound 3rd Av has re-opened at Pine St. Westbound Pine St continues to be blocked.

Buses travelling southbound on 3rd Av have resumed regular service.

Westbound Pine St buses continue to be rerouted. Use stops westbound on Pine St east of 7th Av or southbound on 3rd Av south of Union St.

Buses are rerouted in downtown Seattle due to incident blocking southbound 3rd Av and westbound Pine St

At 6:27 PM – Buses are currently being rerouted off of 3 Av, in the southbound direction, at Pine St and off of westbound Pine St at 3 Av, due to a blocking incident.

Buses travelling southbound on 3rd Av, use stops southbound on 3 Av north of Stewart St or south of Pike St.

Busses travelling westbound on Pine St, use stops east of 7th Av or on southbound 3 Av south of Union St.

At 3:02 PM – Routes 224, 232, 248, 253 & ST 545 are temporarily rerouted off of Cleveland St, in the eastbound direction only at 168th Av NE, due to an incident.

Routes 224, 232 & 248 please use the posted stops eastbound on Cleveland St just west of 166th Av NE or eastbound on Avondale Way NE just east of 170th Pl NE.

Routes 253 and ST 545 are rerouted but miss no stops.
